These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Golyte website, applications, and luggage-storage booking service (together, the “Service”), operated by Golyte LLC, a limited liability company formed in the State of New Mexico, United States (“Golyte”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
By creating an account, making a booking, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are and our role
Golyte provides short-term luggage-storage services to travelers (“you” or the “Customer”) through a vetted network of partner locations — hotels, hostels, shops, and similar venues (“Hosts”) across Asia.
When you book through Golyte, you contract with and pay Golyte for the storage service, and Golyte is the merchant of record for your payment. Hosts are independent businesses that provide the physical storage space on Golyte’s behalf. Golyte is responsible to you for delivering the booked service in accordance with these Terms.
Golyte is not a left-luggage locker operator, a freight or shipping company, an insurer, or a bank. We provide a storage-booking service only.
2. Accounts
To make a booking you must create a free account and provide accurate information (including a valid email address). You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
You must be at least 18 years old to make a booking. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must make the booking and accept these Terms on your behalf, and they will be responsible for it.
3. Bookings, pricing, and payment
- Booking. You select a Host location, drop-off and pick-up dates, and the number of bags. A booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from Golyte. That confirmation email is the only document you need to present at the Host’s desk — there is no separate code or app step.
- Pricing. Prices are shown and charged in US Dollars (USD). The price for each bag is calculated as: {daily rate} × {number of bags} × {number of days}. Your total is made up of a storage fee and a protection fee (which includes limited protection — see Section 7). The full breakdown and total are shown at checkout before you pay.
- How days are counted. Storage is charged per calendar day. A new day begins at 00:00 local time, not after a rolling 24-hour period. For example, dropping a bag at 11:00 on 13 June and collecting it at 08:00 on 14 June counts as two days.
- Payment. You are charged at the time of booking. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider(s); Golyte does not store your full card details. By booking, you authorize Golyte to charge the total shown at checkout.
- Promotions. Any discount, coupon, or promotional rate is subject to the conditions stated at the time it is offered.
4. Drop-off, pick-up, and the storage period
- Present your confirmation email at the Host’s front desk to drop off and to collect your bags.
- Bags must be dropped off and collected within the Host’s stated opening hours and within the dates of your booking.
- You must collect your bags by the end of your booked pick-up date. Procedures and fees for late collection or uncollected/abandoned items are described in Section 8.
- If a Host cannot serve you. If a Host is closed or otherwise unable to accept or release your bags during your booked window, contact Golyte immediately. We will try to arrange an alternative nearby location or, where that is not possible, refund the booking in full under Section 6.
5. What you can and cannot store
There are two separate lists. List A items may not be stored at all. List B items may be stored, but are not covered by the protection in Section 7.
5.1 List A — Prohibited items (must not be stored)
- Illegal items, stolen goods, or items you are not legally entitled to possess.
- Cash, banknotes, securities, or negotiable instruments.
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, or other dangerous goods.
- Drugs or controlled substances (other than lawful personal medication).
- Flammable, toxic, corrosive, radioactive, or otherwise hazardous materials.
- Perishable goods, food, or liquids that may leak, spoil, or attract pests.
- Living things (people, animals, or plants).
- Any item that is malodorous or that could damage other property or the Host’s premises.
Golyte and the Host may refuse any item and may contact the authorities where they reasonably suspect a List A item.
5.2 List B — Stored at your own risk (not covered by Section 7)
These items may be stored, but the protection in Section 7 does not apply to them, whatever their value:
- Laptops, tablets, phones, cameras, drones, and other portable electronic devices.
- Jewelry, watches, precious metals, and precious stones.
- Passports, ID cards, visas, tickets, and other travel documents.
- Keys, bank cards, and access devices.
- Prescription medication and medical devices.
- Unusually fragile items (glass, ceramics, artwork, musical instruments) and items not packed adequately to survive normal handling.
- Items of sentimental or irreplaceable value.
- Any single item worth more than the per-bag cap in Section 7.
We strongly recommend you keep List B items with you. If you choose to store them, you do so at your own risk.
You are responsible for the contents of your bags. By booking, you confirm your bags contain no List A items and that you accept the risk for any List B items.
5.3 If a List A item is found
If a List A item is discovered in a stored bag, Golyte or the Host may refuse or stop the storage, remove or secure the item, contact the authorities where the law requires or where there is a safety risk, and dispose of the item where it is unsafe or unlawful to keep it. No refund is due in these circumstances, the protection in Section 7 does not apply, and you are responsible for any reasonable costs, damage, or loss caused to Golyte, the Host, or third parties.
6. Cancellations and refunds
This section is our refund and cancellation policy and forms part of these Terms. All refunds are handled in US Dollars (USD).
- Cancel before your drop-off day — full refund. You may cancel free of charge at any time before your drop-off date begins, that is, before 00:00 (midnight) on your drop-off date, in the local time of the storage location. Cancel from your account (“My Bookings” / “Find my booking”); it takes effect immediately and you’ll receive a confirmation email. The exact deadline for your booking is shown on your booking page and in your confirmation email.
- On your drop-off day. Once your drop-off date has begun, you can no longer cancel yourself. Contact the Host directly (number on your confirmation email) or Golyte support. Refunds inside this window are at our reasonable discretion and may be a full refund, partial refund, or credit, depending on the circumstances.
- After drop-off. Once your bags have been dropped off and accepted into storage, the booking is generally non-refundable. Unused days are not automatically refunded if you collect early.
- Partial changes. Reducing the number of bags or shortening a booking before drop-off adjusts your charge pro-rata.
- How refunds are paid. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method, typically initiated within 1–2 business days; your bank or card issuer may take a further 5–10 business days to post the funds. We don’t charge a fee to process a refund.
- Service failure. If a Host is unable to honor a confirmed booking, or the service is not provided as described, you are entitled to a full refund of that booking.
- Loss or damage to stored bags is handled under Section 7 (Limited protection), not this section.
7. Limited protection (coverage)
Every booking includes a protection fee that provides limited protection against loss of, or damage to, your stored bags during the storage period, up to a maximum of US$1,000 per bag and US$2,000 per booking.
Where a single event affects more than one booking at the same location (for example a theft, fire, or flood), Golyte’s total compensation for that event is capped at US$5,000, allocated proportionately between affected customers.
This protection is not insurance. It is a service guarantee provided by Golyte subject to these Terms. It does not cover:
- List A items (Section 5.1) — these must not be stored at all.
- List B items (Section 5.2) — these may be stored, but at your own risk and outside this protection, whatever their value.
- Pre-existing damage, normal wear, or defects in your own bag or its fastenings.
- Loss of data, or loss of use, arising from any stored item.
- Loss or damage caused by your own act or omission, or by events outside our reasonable control.
- Any booking not made and paid for through Golyte. If you pay a Host directly, in cash or otherwise, this protection does not apply.
How compensation is assessed. Compensation is based on the value of the item at the time of loss, taking account of age and wear — not its replacement cost. Golyte assesses claims reasonably on the evidence provided.
Making a claim. You must report the issue to Golyte within 24 hours of collecting your bags, or within 24 hours of your scheduled pick-up time if the bags cannot be returned to you — whichever is earlier. Your report must include a description and, where possible, photographs of the affected items. In addition:
- For any single item claimed above US$200, you must provide reasonable proof of ownership and value (receipt, invoice, bank or card statement, or equivalent).
- For theft, you must provide a police report from the local authority.
- You must not have received compensation for the same loss from an insurer or any other party.
Failure to provide the above may result in the claim being reduced or declined.
How long we take. We aim to acknowledge a claim within 2 business days and to reach a decision within 14 business days of receiving the evidence listed above. Where a police report or a Host investigation is still outstanding, we will tell you and give a revised timeframe.
If we pay a claim. Where Golyte compensates you, you transfer to Golyte your rights to recover that amount from any third party responsible for the loss, and you agree to cooperate reasonably if we pursue them.
8. Liability
- Golyte provides the Service with reasonable care and skill. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Golyte’s total liability to you arising out of or relating to a booking is limited to the protection cap in Section 7.
- Golyte is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profit, or opportunity.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
- Late collection. If your bags are still at the Host after the end of your booked period, storage continues at US$5 per bag per day until they are collected. We will contact you at the details on your booking.
- Uncollected items. Items uncollected 15 days after the end of the booked period may be treated as abandoned and disposed of, donated, or sold in accordance with applicable law. Accrued late-collection fees and any reasonable disposal costs remain payable, and may be deducted from any sale proceeds. The protection in Section 7 does not apply after the end of your booked period.
9. Your conduct
You agree to use the Service lawfully, to treat Hosts and their staff respectfully, and not to misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service.
10. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
Changes are not retroactive. The Terms that apply to a booking are the Terms in force at the time you made and paid for that booking. Updated Terms apply to bookings made after they take effect; your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of them.
11. Resolving problems
If something goes wrong, contact us first at support@golyte.net. Most issues are resolved quickly. Both you and Golyte agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute informally within 30 days of it being raised in writing before starting legal proceedings.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Service, are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New Mexico, United States.
Your local consumer rights are unaffected. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings in the courts of that country where such laws give you that right.
13. General
- Force majeure. Neither you nor Golyte is responsible for failing to perform where that failure is caused by an event beyond reasonable control — including natural disaster, fire, flood, epidemic, civil disturbance, strike, government action, or failure of utilities or telecommunications. If such an event prevents your booking from going ahead, you are entitled to a full refund of that booking.
- Changes to your booking by us. In rare cases we may need to move your booking to an alternative nearby Host of comparable standard. We will tell you as soon as we can; if the alternative does not suit you, you may cancel that booking for a full refund.
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer ours to an affiliate or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided your rights are not reduced.
- Notices. We contact you at the email address on your account or booking. You can reach us at support@golyte.net.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- Waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not lose it.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the details of your booking confirmation, are the entire agreement between you and Golyte about the Service.
