Landmark 81 is the tallest building in Vietnam, and the observation deck near the top is the one place you can see how big Ho Chi Minh City actually is. It stands in Vinhomes Central Park on the Binh Thanh side of the river, with a long riverside park underneath it that is genuinely pleasant to walk in the early evening. Security at the tower and the mall below is not going to let you take a suitcase up, and the park is a walk, not a place to stand guard over your bags. This spot exists for that gap. Leave the luggage, go up for sunset, walk the river afterwards, and pick it up before you head back into District 1 or on to the airport.
