Saigon Centre sits on Le Loi in the middle of District 1, and it is the easiest landmark to meet at in this part of the city - everyone knows the Takashimaya sign. It suits the morning most of all. Flights into Tan Son Nhat land early, hotel rooms are rarely ready before the afternoon, and District 1 is compact enough to walk but hot enough to make you regret carrying anything across it. Drop the bag when the shops open, take Ben Thanh Market five minutes one way and Nguyen Hue walking street five the other, find lunch somewhere with air conditioning, and collect it by mid-afternoon on your way to check in.
