The north gate of Ben Thanh Market opens onto Le Thanh Ton street, and the block facing it is where much of District 1's travel business happens: tour desks, money changers and cafés where groups wait for their minibus. This spot is on that block, about a minute's walk from the gate. It is open every day from eight in the morning until nine at night, with someone there the whole time to take the bag. That suits a day trip well. Tours to the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta usually collect people in District 1 early in the morning and bring them back around dinner time, long after checkout. Leave the suitcase here before the pickup and come back for it in the evening. On a free afternoon, the Fine Arts Museum is a five-minute walk south, and the market's food stalls are just inside the gate.
