Lotte Mall West Lake is the big new mall on Vo Chi Cong, at the north-west corner of Tay Ho, and this spot is a few minutes on foot from it. The mall pulls a crowd the old quarter never sees: Korean groups heading for the department store, families queuing for the aquarium, and anyone filling the last afternoon of a trip with a bit of shopping. The geography is the useful part. Vo Chi Cong runs straight onto Nhat Tan bridge and the expressway to Noi Bai, so this side of the lake is roughly half an hour from the airport and well clear of the traffic around Hoan Kiem. Leave the bag here, spend the afternoon at the mall or walking the lake shore, and collect it on the way out to your flight.
