Bui Vien is Saigon's backpacker street, the loud, neon-lit strip in the Pham Ngu Lao quarter of District 1 where bars push their plastic stools out onto the pavement and the road closes to traffic after dark. Around it sit the travel agencies where day trips to the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta begin, and the offices selling open-bus tickets to Mui Ne, Da Lat and Can Tho, many of them leaving from the same few streets in the evening. So most people here share the same problem: the room is gone by noon, the tour or the sleeper bus is hours away, and a backpack is the last thing you want on a crowded walking street. This spot is a short walk from Bui Vien and open 24/7. Drop the bag before the tour, collect it when you get back at whatever hour, and head for the bus.
