Around Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre

The water puppet theatre sits on the northeast corner of Hoan Kiem Lake and runs several shows a day, each about fifty minutes. It is one of the few genuinely old things you can still watch in Hanoi - the art form is a thousand years old and came out of flooded rice paddies. The problem is practical: the seats are close together, there is no cloakroom, and a great many people arrive here in the gap between hotel checkout and an evening departure.
